Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has given go-ahead for alignment of the Danapur-Shivala-Bihta elevated road.
The four-lane elevated road of 20 km will be constructed at a cost of around Rs 2,000 crore.
The detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed elevated road had already been finalised by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and with the approval of alignment by the Chief Minister, the works of land acquisition will be accelerated at a faster pace.
As per the alignment, the state government will have to acquire 45 ha of land parcel at different locations alongside the proposed road.
This will be handed over to NHAI for construction of four-lane elevated highway which will connect Patna to the upcoming civil airport at Bihta via Danapur junction and Shivala Chowk.
The elevated road will begin from Khagaul road-over-bridge (RoB) and end after Bihta Chowk. Of the total 20 km length, 17 km will be elevated. The elevated portion will terminate at the junction of Bihta-Sarmera Road near Kanhauli village.
Apart from this, three lanes of the six-lane road bridge on river Sone at Koilwar would be completed by October 2019. Once completed it will ease traffic movement on the old bridge at Koelwar. The remaining three-lane road bridge will be completed by March 2020.
